[Then Tenn explains, and Raven's disgruntled expression shifts to one of surprise and intrigue.]
Oh. Uh...sure, come on in. But I'll warn ya, my bed's a mess.
[He'll fix it when they're both inside though, along with his hair. He offers Tenn a spot to sit in the process, grabbing his hair tie off of his vanity.]
[ He walks in and...the bed is a mess, but he doesn't care. He sits where Raven instructs him to, composed, facing the older man head on. ]
We're losing Moriarty-san tomorrow. He was helping me with a lot of things this past week.
[ ...To say nothing of how Tenn considered him to be his friend. His voice is shaky as he speaks, but he's doing his best to hold himself together. ]
A lot of things happened, but I'm here because I'm certain that I can trust you, Raven-san. I don't think you're one of the traitors -- and I need your help.
[Raven listens intently as he ties his hair up. Whoa, this got really serious all of the sudden...]
I'm surprised you're lookin' at the guy with "being shady" listed in his skills and decidin' he's trustworthy.
[There's a little bit of humor in there, but his surprise over the statement is still obvious. Receiving someone's trust like that is a heavy, heavy thing. It's daunting, honestly. But it's coming from Tenn, someone who hasn't caught a break in weeks. There's no way Raven can just turn him away,]
But I 'ppreciate yer trust, and if ya need me that bad, I'm all ears. What's this about traitors, though? Are we talkin' about the greater scope here...?
Haha, well, you'll see why. With all due respect, you're an elusive guy, Raven-san; but I don't think that means you're bad by any means.
[ He'll at least give him a little smile at that, though his look turns serious again when they start talking about the traitors. ]
I have information on the traitors, as well as information on who's most likely safe. Your name was on a list for the latter, as was mine. But...before I get into that.
[ He frowns deeper. His expression shifts into one of...regret. Guilt. ]
The first thing I'm asking for your help with is... I need more people to help me search for something. An object that you think Hamelin would want someone to destroy. The only lead I have right now is there's a small, square box missing from his quarters, but I don't know what's in it, and I don't know when he's going to ask that person to destroy it.
That person is me. [ ... ] I -- made a mistake, and Hamelin trapped me into making this deal with him in exchange for Riku's medicine on our first day here.
[There is no offense taken from that first bit- Raven takes pride in being an elusive guy, so apparently it's working!
But as Tenn continues, Raven's absentminded hair-tying slows down. His jaw slackens slightly, astonished by what he's hearing. This is so, so much.]
Here, why don'tcha have a seat? I can tell this is gonna be a long talk.
[He guides Tenn over to a chair while he takes the bed, leaning forward with his fingers in a steeple.]
Of course that sneaky bastard would snare up an unsuspectin' kid on the first day... And fer medicine, too. That's a low blow. [He's very much making a :/ face.] Yeah, I'll keep an eye out fer this box. Wonder what it is if he wants it back so bad...
[That's more rhetorical musing since it doesn't seem like Tenn knows.]
Now what's this list ya mentioned? Safe from what, bein' a traitor?
He tricked me into doing it, too. I found out that the fairies were going to give Riku his medication anyway, so you can see why I’m even more reluctant to do this for him.
[ But…he’s glad Raven understands. Each time he tells this story gets a little easier, but he’s always afraid of judgment, of being labeled as one of the traitors because of this. That isn’t what’s happening here, so he lets out a sigh of relief before continuing. ]
Safe from being a traitor, yeah. But… Other than us, the other names were Adora, Edelgard, Lucifer and Wei Wuxian. This list was found in Hamelin’s office, and it’s almost certainly a list of people who Hamelin would need to blackmail into working for him. … Like he did with me.
The traitors, however, did not need to be coerced at all. I’ll start with that.
Why am I not even surprised? [But he's not going to waste more of his breath on Hamelin.] I'm sorry he put ya in such a spot, Tenn. We'll find a workaround though, I'm sure of it.
[Maybe if they find the box, they can use it as leverage or something. It's not like Hamelin was playing fair in the first place!
Anyway, moving onto the traitor stuff... He can't help but scoff.]
So he's got a list of people he'd try ta exploit on top of his traitors? Figures. Well, I can tell ya fer sure that I ain't got any interest. His blackmail would have ta be pretty significant. And even then...
[And even then...what? He doesn't seem to finish that train of thought aloud.]
[ Tenn gives him a little smile at that. He's grateful for Raven's help, and he lets out a quiet sigh of relief before his expression turns firm. Time to discuss the traitors. ]
I figured you wouldn't be the type.
[ ...He's tempted to ask Raven to finish that train of thought, actually. ]
Even what?
[ He's not trying to be accusatory! He just wants to make sure they can share as much as they can since he firmly believes they're on the same side. ]
[ Hm… that look seems important but he will ask about it later. ]
I send them a note every week with information from our side along with whatever else I want to tell them. The only way they can communicate back is through the notes we find every week.
There’s no private channel on their end, so I’ve asked them to be careful with what they say. I can’t be found out, for obvious reasons.
Yes. Ever since people brought up the idea of fairy interference -- or even interference from someone among our group -- I've been thinking of ways to get them to verify their notes. Last week, it was aliases. This upcoming week, I'm asking them to add a heart next to their aliases.
[ It's so dumb, Raven, but this is what Tenn wants them to do!! ]
Any one of us could have picked up on the aliases from this past week. Only the dead would know to add that heart. I doubt all of them will listen, given how some of them can be; but if at least a few of them do, then it'll prove that the notes can be trusted.
[ Continuing off of that: ]
I usually write back to them on Thursdays or Wednesday nights, since they send us their messages during the day. Plus, we normally have meetings during those days, so I like to send the dead the information we've compiled as well.
Well, at least we'll know the dead love those of us who ain't traitors. Or somethin'.
[He's amused by the idea! But also a little weirded out still. That probably won't change.]
Sounds like a good arrangement, though. And it sounds like they've been findin' stuff on their end too, with all these hints they keep droppin'. Have you been able ta get any insight on that from yer end? Or are you just gettin' what the rest of us are from them?
[ THEY'D BETTER...after their all their hard work!! ]
I'm only getting what the rest of you are. They don't have any other way to communicate back to me, though my source who's going back and forth between us told me that they are holding meetings to try and discuss everything they can. It sounds like they've been working hard.

Even then, my allegiance is already with someone else. I'm workin' with someone outside of Hamelin's little game.

thanks for eating this notif, gmail!!!
F-Fer how long?! What do they have you doing?!

I’ve been talking with the dead.
no subject
So they really are out there. [Wow, he sure hates it.] How...exactly are you doin' this?

How do ya know it's them for certain? I know ya seemed certain of Riku's presence before, but didja ask him something only he would know, or...?

[ But there’s more: ]
Remember how some of them signed their notes last week? For example, “Shiori”?
That’s because I asked them to.
no subject
Yeah, I remember. So you've been doin' yer own little tests with 'em too. Good.
[He nods, reaffirming his confidence in the situation now.]
All right, I believe you. So when's yer next correspondence with 'em?

So this source of yours- what're they like?
