[ After having some fun building the...interesting snowman meant to represent C-ta, Tenn asked Edelgard if he can speak to her in private. He wasn't sure if she'd agree to it, but thankfully she seemed interested in what he had to say.
That's why they're here now, in Room Three; Tenn's expression is solemn and he turns to look at her when they've gotten some privacy. ]
Edelgard. Sorry to spring this on you so suddenly. I've been giving this a lot of thought, and I decided that I want to trust you with something.
[ ... ]
I know that you want to end the cycle of suffering just as much as I do. And I'd like to help you with that, if you'll allow me; but I have something that I want to ask for your help with, also.
On the first day here, I made an unwise decision. I locked myself into a deal with Hamelin. Let me make this clear: I am not one of the traitors we're looking for, because I've been trying to look for a way out of this deal since the moment I made it. I haven't been providing him with any intel, and if I were actively working for him, I wouldn't be telling you any of this.
[ ... ]
Riku arrived here without his medicine, so I immediately went to Hamelin to ask him for it. He promised that Riku would receive it, but only if I agreed to destroy an object for him. He won't say what it is, nor when I have to destroy it; he's expecting me to do it when he calls for me. That's about all I know from him.
I will also point out that it was a dishonest deal. He tricked me into doing it, because the fairies were going to give Riku his medication anyway.
[ He's hoping she'll understand why he did this. He's trying to keep his voice firm and as neutral as possible, but there's no mistaking the guilt that spills out with his words. ]
If it's anything that's going to pose a threat to our safety or our chance of escaping -- dead included -- then I'm not going to do it. That being said, I'm looking for a way to turn it on him instead.
[She nods along to this... okay. She won't state the obvious and point out how dumb it is to make deals with the fey, she won't, because he probably already knows that and has probably already pointed it out to himself, perhaps even at the time.
Guilt doesn't really help anything, and she certainly can't condemn him as anything other than foolish.
But that's interesting... and potentially dangerous.]
Moriarty identified you as one of his allies. I assume he's one of the people you'd roped into helping you with this, then? Interesting...
Well, I would like to help, if possible. I'm hoping you have some kind of plan, however.
He is. He actually gave me an integral piece of information that we think may be related to this.
There's something missing in Hamelin's quarters -- a small, square box, to be exact. He also told me that the best time to raid Hamelin's office is after executions, but this was also during the first week. I'm not sure if the same holds true now, but I may take a look this week, if I can.
[ As for having a plan, however...well. He kind of deflates. ]
I don't really have much of a plan otherwise, though, because I don't know what it is exactly. The assumption is that we may not have access to the object right now, or that a series of events needs to happen first before Hamelin calls upon me to do it. With how fixated he is on roles, I wouldn't be surprised if that's why he was withholding information from me. He wants to ensure that I go through with his demands.
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know about this in case you happen to find anything that you think might be relevant. The only thing I can think of that's been brought up so far is the orb that Yeager talked about in his mirror experience; even then, though, I don't know if that's what it is, exactly.
....Hmmm. I wonder if there's anything protecting Hamelin's quarters from damage like fire, acid or explosives.
[She's having thoughts about arson.]
Well, two questions. One, how many people know about this? I assume Makoto does?
And two, would you be against me accompanying you to raid it this week? Four eyes are better than two in this regard, and while we can't exactly fight him, I can probably do a better job of slowing him down should it come to it.
...Are you going to burn his office down? And yes, Makoto knows about it. I've told a total of four people who are alive right now, five including you.
[ At her second question though, he shakes his head. ]
I'm not opposed to it. We can definitely try it and see what else we can find, whether it's related to the object or not. Anything works if we can use it against him.
raid time raid time! week 5 sunday, post-execution.
[ Okay...okay. Tenn does not have his axe with him today, but he has his bow and a quiver of arrows with him just in case. He's better on that, anyway; he's equipped with the fire magic and the lightning magic trinkets, too. He shows up to Hamelin's office with Edelgard, unsure what to expect, but they're committed to this. It's happening.
[Edelgard shows up, carrying a large axe, some spicy cinnamon just in case, and of course, her knife. She nods at Tenn.]
We don't know how much time we have. Let's get right to it.
[She takes the lead, violently swinging the door open. She could just break it down with a large axe, but while that would be cool as hell, it'd be very unnecessary. That door will get it's due.
Welcome to Hamelin's office! It is unoccupied and there's some changes for Tenn and Edelgard to note since the last time they've been in here. For one, there's a couch in here now (a fainting couch to be precise) with a plush blanket resting on it in a heap. The bookcases in the room also look a bit sparse, and on top of his desk are more than a few wine bottles which are empty. ]
[ As far as the bookcase goes, it's hard to tell. His books were never in order, a fact that probably haunted Nageki, so all Tenn can glean from here is that there's spaces where some books were before. What's left is a large collection of books on various fairy tales.
His desk has three compartments: one on each side and one in the center. Starting with the first one on the right side, Edelgard finds a hairbrush and a large pot of semi-used healing salve. ]
[ Do any fairy tales seem to stand out? For example, is there one story that has more variations than others? And if the Pied Piper of Hamelin tale is there, Tenn will be looking for that, too.
He'll also quickly start pulling books out and pushing them back onto the shelf. Just checking if there's anything hidden behind or between the books. ]
[ There's a few more on the Grimm family of fairytales, but overall there's a pretty good selection here. As seems to be the case in Aira Niluc, there isn't a sign of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. Pulling out the books and pushing them back in unfortunately doesn't yield much either, but some of the books are dusty. ]
[ Which ones are dusty, and do any of them seem to have like...anything odd about them. Like, are there any indicators of, say, notes in any of the books that might be suspicious or something like that! ]
[ Pretty much all of them are dusty but an errant one or two about music. There's nothing off about them and no indicators about notes or anything like that. ]
[ There's only one pillow (the rolled type) because this is how fainting couches go. Aside from the plush purple blanket in a heap on the couch, which assuming Tenn shook out there's nothing in it either, he won't find anything of note. There might be a few crumbs there, but no secret notes, coins, or anything like that. ]
The hairbrush does have a few strands of long blonde hair, but that does match Hamelin's hair as it suffers from the "way too long" to fit in icons curse. As for the salve, Edelgard might recognize this as the same kind Yuri gave out to everyone several weeks back. ]
[ The middle drawer contains a bunch of sheet music, all done by hand. You might want Tenn over here unless Edelgard can read music as they're not titled. In total there are six distinct melodies. ]
[ He can, at least partially. Four of them resemble the weird melody everyone has heard every Monday morning except for the first one. Another one does not look match to anything Tenn has heard before, and it was the last one in the pile.
*Your mod can't count the last tag should read five. ]
[ There's nothing on the counter top but a few bottle of booze, alas. And as for the last drawer, it's completely empty. It must have had something in it as one point though, because it's not dusty or anything. ]

So how will you make your entrance, intruders? ]
no subject
Okay. Are you good at lock-picking? Or are we breaking the door itself?
[ Well. More like Edelgard will have to break the door, but you know. ]

[She hefts her battle-axe up with a smile.
How sturdy does the lock look? Would she be able to break it with the axe or will she have to break the door itself?]

Go for it, I support this idea.
[ it's an extra "fuck you" to hamelin so!! ]

She lowers it and slams it into the wood of the door, swinging until there's enough damage for her to reach through and unlock it.
Peace was never an option!]

The first four all melodies that we've been hearing on Monday mornings. This last one... I don't know what this is.

Regardless it's troubling. We can't really say what the last one does but it can't be good.
