Even while she was alive, the latter was something Tenn knew about her, but he chose to turn a blind eye to it. He chose to ignore that she was dangerous, that she was capable of killing. His defense about her being a "good parent" feels so foolish now, in hindsight, but that was back when he didn't know how to handle trials. Now, he wants to believe he knows better.
Maybe he can learn a thing or two from Lucifer, while he's here. Someone much, much older and wiser with more life experience may know better than him when it comes to navigating these situations. ]
